Swiss citizen abducted in Niger
Switzerland’s foreign ministry confirmed to AFP that a Swiss citizen abducted in Niger had been citing reports from a Nigerien media outlet.
According to the foreign ministry, it was “notified of the abduction of a Swiss national in Niger.”
The local government and the Swiss diplomatic mission in Niamey are in communication. Clarifications are being worked on.
The kidnapping took place in Agadez city, where an Austrian woman was abducted three months prior, according to General Ibra Boulama Issa, the governor of the Nigerien state of Agadez.

According to the general, late Sunday, “a foreign woman… of Swiss nationality” was seized from her residence there.
He also mentioned the Austrian’s kidnapping on January 11 in a statement.
