PDP Convention: There are no three-point consensus candidates. Adopt the secret ballot
The Democratic Party for the People (PDP) has adopted secret ballots for the upcoming conventions today and tomorrow, just as it has reached agreement on all but three positions.
Recall that the agreement received a green light from the Court of Appeals in Port Harcourt, Rivers.
The meeting was attended by former Vice Presidents Namadi Sambo and Atiku Abubakar. Governor of Bala Mohammed, Darius Ishaku, Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in Enugu State.
Former Senate Chairs David Mark and Bukola Saraki also attended. However, the Governor of Adamawa and Afmadow Fintiri, chairman of the PDP National Convention Planning Committee, told reporters after the meeting on Friday that they currently only have three positions.
Positions are National Vice President (South), National Auditor, and Youth Leader. Fintiri added that despite the fact that 80% of the NWC’s positions will be contested without opposition, lawmakers will still vote for all positions. The governor said at a press conference in Abuja on Friday that the ballots would adopt the secret ballot system.
Last-minute lobbying was still ongoing, but none of the three-position contenders changed positions. Instead, they individually seek support from big names like the former vice president. It is not yet known whether we will reach a last minute compromise.
